I’ve finally found my game. It’s pool.
I got addicted to billiards about 6 months ago when a friend whom I met at a teaching workshop invited me out to play. It was an interesting thing learning a skill from another teacher. The last time I had played I was about 4, and I think the game more consisted of ‘push all the balls into the pockets with my hands’.
Pool is geometric, meditative, subtle. It evokes in me feelings of old world class. It’s more refined than darts, more adult then ping pong, more active than cards or chess. It strikes the perfect balance between the benign and the sinister. It’s a game I want to become competent at.
Also, today I sank my first double.
