Today I read a really interesting passage in a book I found in my laundry room called ‘Mentally Tough’. it’s a self-help book, geared towards peak-performance business types.
This idea really got to me; that your motivation must not be fueled by the outcome of a process, but by the process itself. If you are outcome-motivated, you are playing the score, not playing the ball. Outcomes cannot be controlled and are essentially future imaginings until they happen, but you can always be in the process of doing.
