Day 84

“Suffering is pain multiplied by resistance.”  – Shinzen Young

The most important thing I learned about negative emotions is that they will never be divorced from you experience as a human being.  You will always feel anger, fear, sadness etc.  At the same time, the crucial difference between paying attention to those feelings and fighting or resisting them is the key to minimizing suffering.  It is my personal conviction that you can be beset with negative emotions without identifying with them, letting them happen within you and still remaining calm and happy.
